2 new Handspun yarns!

Parakeet Handspun, originally uploaded by mandalinn.

Here are my two latest yarns. The first is Parakeet, a Corriedale X yarn, spun from some awesome pin drafted roving off of Ebay. 110 yards of thick & thin candy striped goodness. So soft & squishy. Available on Etsy. http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=6921054

I am working with the dyer to get a bunch of it in bulk. I enjoyed spinning it so much.

Second is my first ‘art yarn’. It is called Pink Sunday, it is 52 yards of mixed locks carded by me and then spun, with lots of whole locks left in. The pink/brown mix is from HollyEQQ it is BFL and the brown/ecru is my own New Zealand merino locks, undyed. I love how this turned out. Still deciding what to do with it. 🙂

Dyed wool, drying by the pool!, originally uploaded by mandalinn.

LOL! I found this wiley fiber sunbathing by the pool today. 🙂

Lincoln Locks, Finn-Dorset-Targhee X wool and Border Leciester Locks. All scoured & dyed by hand. My first time processing from scratch and might be my last. LOL! I have a bit of greasy fleece left, we will see. 🙂

Dyed in fall shade and after it is dryed I will be processing by carding and leaving some of the locks whole. They turned out nicely, but boy scouring wool is a PITA!

I have a bit left from the Finn-Dorset-Targhee X and the rest is processed. I don’t think I will be doing that anytime soon, too messy & too stinky. I had a whole fleece that I had to throw away, it was just too disgusting. I got it for $4 though, so it wasn’t much of a loss, besides my lunch. 😉

Well everyone, I am hope from my trip to California. It wasn’t quite as relaxing as I’d hoped. Flew in on Tuesday night, both flights were delayed. Next day my pregnant friend broke her toe very badly. Then the day after that I ended up at urgent care with a raging ear infection (and no insurance card, cause I am dumb). Thankfully my hubby faxed it to me. Dan (the P.A., not doctor) told me that my arms must be tired from flying from FL to CA, ha ha, not funny when you are in major pain and gave me a prescription that still hasn’t worked much yet.

I had fun visiting with Renee and her son Will though and her husband when he was home from work. I miss them very much. We did go to In n Out burger one day and a birthday party another (which was hard since everyone had kids but me). All in all it was nice, but I am glad to be home now. LOL!

Here are some photos of the little man!

Isn’t he a sweetie????

I just updated my shop with a ton of dyed locks & rovings, be on the lookout for new things daily!

I also got a ton of new raw fleeces in, so I need to go work on those. Time to melt the lanolin! 😉

Holy Sheep!!!!

Well I just got one of many boxes coming with fleece/roving/locks to me. YIKES! 🙂 I am so excited but I cannot play now, since I leave tomorrow for Cali!

Today came:

3 lbs of Falklands roving….I was out and it will be listed soon undyed and then dyed when I get back in my Etsy shop.

2 lbs of wool blend roving, it is a bit darker than usual, but will dye up fine.

2 lbs of scoured mohair, this is really nice and very little VM in it and should dye up great and I will be including it into batts. I will do plenty without though, because of allergies.

1 lb of raw white Leicester fleece, it is a little grey and they said I can send it back, but I really like it and they actually gave me 1.4 lbs for the same price. LONG locks and tons of curl & shine.

1 lb of raw white Lincoln fleece, this is REALLY dirty, but has pretty curls. We will see how it washes up.

1 lb of scoured light grey (although it is more brown to me) NZ Merino…….this is fantastic, I will be ordering lots more. I cannot wait to see how it cards/spins/dyes.

2 lbs of Superwash Merino roving, fantastically silky & smooth

1 lb of dyed Cotswold locks, they are wonderful, lots of VM, but that is okay.

I also have 3 lbs of raw Finn/Dorset/Targhee fawn fleece coming and 3+ lbs of Columbia fleece coming. Phew, enough sheep you think?

I am considering ordering some raw alpaca too, but I will wait until I get this cleaned/processed and dyed first. LOL!

So yes, HOLY SHEEP in my house right now. Wish me luck!
