CD 1 already…..

Well my body decided to move on all by itself. Even though today was my last birth control pill and I am on Lupron they couldn’t hold off AF from showing. So we are officially on cycle day one of our first (and hopefully only) IVF. I called my IVF coordinator and I am scheduled for my baseline ultrasound and E2 check on Thursday morning. She said they like to have you on Lupron for at least 7 days prior to starting stims, but if everything looks okay we might begin sooner. Thursday will be day 5 of Lupron. They also need to check me for my Rubella titers and give me all the surgery information/guidelines.

It should be an interesting visit. I am just hoping that everything is nice and quiet and we can start stims quickly and get a move on. I am ready to have this whole journey moving. It has been such a long time coming. We are coming up on almost five years of trying to conceive. So many ups and downs, laughing and crying, and just a tiring time. It has made me a stronger person though and I have learned not to take things for granted and to live each day to its fullest. It has also taught me that it is okay to take time for ME and not always worry about everyone else. I have to make sure that I am in a good place and that I take a few minutes each day to do something nice for myself. But most of all it has taught me to appreciate my family, friends and even strangers. While a lot of people talk about the negative comments they get, I am trying to focus on the positives. The support I have received is amazing and I couldn’t do this without it. You all know who you are, THANK YOU!

Negative. It really isn’t much of a surprise since I have been testing early and often (maybe goes back to my Chicago roots, haha). But it still hurts a lot. We had such high hopes that this cycle would work. But, it didn’t and now I am just ready to move on.

We just have to wait for AF to show so I can call and schedule my monitoring appointments and order my meds. I am really hoping she shows before tonight…my best friend is coming over and bringing me Ben & Jerry’s and I think a little wine would go nicely with that. LOL!

I think we are going to go with the same meds this next round, but if it doesn’t work again I am going to push for moving on up to injectables. Here’s hoping my lining will be a bit better this time. I am going to possibly do some supplements to help out with that.

Thanks for all the support through this first IUI cycle, it helped a lot and at least now we know what to expect.

So here we are, 2 years after my last post and I have decided to start this blog again. A lot is going on in our lives now and I need an outlet to put it all on and thought this would work.

Onto our news….still spinning and knitting up a storm. Also weaving now. I am renting a 4 harness Harrisville Loom from the Pinellas Weaver’s Guild and I have a 24″ Kromski Harp rigid heddle loom as well. I love the harp and I am still learning on the floor loom. Having some tension issues, but I am getting there.

And the BIG news. Brian and I have decided to move forward with fertility treatments. We had new workups done and found out that unfortunately that Brian now has azoospermia, which basically means that his body doesn’t produce any sperm anymore. He had a follow up with a urologist and is having some testing done. But they think it is due to the amount of surgery he had as a child and/or he was born with low numbers or malfunctioning issues. My testing all came back okay as of now, so there is no reason why I shouldn’t be able to get pregnant.

While this was about as bad of news as we could get, we have decided to move forward. Brian flat out said, okay we will use donor sperm and do an d-IUI (donor intrauterine insemination), without missing a beat. He is such an amazing person and wants a child so badly. His reasoning is, we were going to adopt anyway, at least this way we both can experience a pregnancy together. I am such a lucky girl.

So we checked out donors and did our research and agonized for days over how to even begin to pick. We poured over the websites, read all the details, talked to others who have gone this route, looked on message boards. It was a time filled with a bit of crying, but lots of laughs. Angela was there to help me through all of it and is the best friend anyone can ask for. And of course my knitting group & weaving guild are a HUGE support too. 🙂

So we picked a donor and ordered 4 vials of sperm and had them sent to our clinic….shipping alone was a mind boggling expense and then the package weighed TWENTY TWO POUNDS!!! It is due to them being sent in liquid nitrogen canisters, but of course the jokes about the weight of sperm haven’t ended yet.

So on May 31st I started on Clomid and I take my last set of pills for that tonight. This drug helps my body to produce nice, big eggs for the d-IUI procedure. I then go into the clinic on Tuesday for my first ultrasound to make sure that the follicles are forming, see where they are, how many there are, etc. If all is going well they will either give me my trigger shot then or have me come in a few days later for another u/s. So if they are ready, I get an Ovidrel shot (in my stomach, ick) which is hcG, the hormone your body produces while you are pregnant. That makes your body ovulated within 36 hours of administering the shot. Then I will come in the next day or day after and have the d-IUI procedure done.

And then the infamous two week wait begins….I go in two weeks after the procedure is done for a blood test to see if I am pregnant or not.

So that is where we are! A lot going on, but all very exciting. I am going to try to update this blog as this journey continues. Along with all my normal knitting & spinning stuff too. 🙂

Today is the first day of the Tour de Fleece! We spin everyday the riders ride in the Tour de France. It is a great way to keep motivated and get lots of great spinning done! I have been prepping fiber for the last few weeks, getting ready for my “ride”. Today I am working on a Merino/Silk blend from EGMTK! I will post photos as it goes on!

I have joined the Team Furbaby Mommas that Gnat set up and I am also in the Rookies & Breakaways group. Rookies is for first time spinners of the Tour and Breakaways is for doing an art yarn during the tour. 🙂

Also I am offering 15% off all dyed fibers & batts in my Etsy shop while the tour is riding. Just enter “Tour de Fleece” in the comments and I will either send you an updated bill or refund via Paypal. 🙂 Undyed fibers & handspuns not included.

Here is my Day 1 progress!

It is a 60/40 Merino-Silk blend from Ewe Give Me The Knits, her blends ROCK! Didn’t get much done, but at least some was. I expect to spin more tomorrow. Gnat & her puppies are coming over to swim!

For some reason I have been totally “down in the dumps” lately and I have no clue why.  It sucks and I have been neglecting my friends, family and blog.  Hopefully I can get out of this funk soon, because it sucks.  Meh!

Well today is Miss Bella’s surgery for her spay, microchip and softpaws, she is there right now having it done and I hope to hear something soon.  I know it has to be done, but I just worry since she is such a tiny baby still.

Hopefully she will be home soon and purring away.  And content so I can go to my SnB meeting tonight, I need some away time.  LOL!

Speaking of SnB, here is the latest project I am working on!  I finally casted on my Lady Eleanor and I love how she is coming out.  Entrelac is so much fun to knit and really keeps your interest!  It is going so quickly so far and I am loving the Noro Silk Garden I chose.

Here is my latest spinning!  Flamingo Bay—252 yards of fingering weight….65% Merino, 15% Colonial and 20% Tencel from Copperpot on Etsy!

I am really happy with how it came out.  I am work on another yarn right now that I can’t wait to put up, it will be fantastic I think!

I also have been updating my Etsy shop with 6 new rovings and 2 bags of locks.  Here are two of my faves!

 Love Bites—-5oz of Falklands roving

And Psychedelic—3 oz of Mohair Locks

Along those lines, I had to reorder wool today for my shop since I just sold off the last pound to a buyer in Romania of all places!!  🙂  So I went ahead and finally ordered a full bump of the domestic wool roving.  A full bump consists of TWENTY-SEVEN POUNDS!!!!!!!!!  I think I am freaking insane!

Also on the insane front, I just ordered a new carder, yup not too long after my first one, I ordered a new one.  AAAAHHHHH!!!!  I love my Louet Jr…..but a production model it is not and it just wasn’t fitting the bill for what I needed for my shop.  So I ordered one of these!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it is a freaking Strauch’s Finest!!!  OMG I am drooling over the photos and cannot wait for it to be here.  And best of all, I ordered it from fellow Etsy-er, Artclub and she is throwing in 2 pounds of mixed fibers to boot!  I am so stoked!!!  Crazy, but stoked!!!  🙂

So be on the lookout for new fantastical batts to be coming to my little shop soon!  YEAH!

Today I had my first shop update in a long time, 4 new rovings and much more to come.  Including some locks that are dyeing right now!  Here are the new fuzzies!

Sugalite–6 oz of hand-dyed merino roving in purples and blues.

Amaranth–3.8 oz of hand-dyed Falklands roving in purples and fuschia.

Frogger—4 oz of hand-dyed Falklands roving in shades of green.

Mali–roving in shades of green, blue, purple and fuschia.

Much more to come in the following days and weeks, including art yarn kits, Valentine’s Day batts and other specials!

On to my good news……the dogs and kitty are finally getting along.  We all actually slept in the same bed for the first time since Bella joined our family.  Last night we didn’t, but that is only because Bella kept swatting at Sasha trying to get her to play, but it hurts because of her claws.  I have the SoftPaws sitting here and they will be put on at the vet’s next week, so that should help.  But no more segregated house for us!  Woohoo!  Bella chases them around and just wants to play now.  It makes me feel like we definitely did the right thing by taking her in.  I couldn’t imagine life without her!

Next week I go in for my lung function test, so we shall see if I finally am better and if I get a diagnosis of asthma or not.  Hopefully I can at least get some good allergy meds, since I have been suffering lately.  I am just glad that life is evening out around here.

Best of all our SnB group that meets every Wednesday at Panera by Tyrone Mall from 6:30-9:30pm is going great, I have finally made some awesome friends down here and look forward to it every week.  Come and join us if you like!

It means a lot to me and my family.  We know that Molly is running free and happy right now with some very special people that we miss dearly and that is a comfort to us.

Be on the lookout for a shop update tomorrow, I have 2 rovings drying, 2 sets of dyed locks and some batts that are being carded.  I also will have a few surprises and sales coming up after Halloween.  I have family starting to come in on Saturday and then starting on Monday until November 1st I will be busy with them and going to Disney.

Thanks again!
