New Yarns!

Here are my latest spun yarns, I am actually getting the hang of this I think. 😉

This one is 52 yards, chunky weight, 2 ply merino. It is spun from my handdyed American Beauty roving I posted a few days ago.

Here is Sandbox, it is 155 yards of a 50% merino 50% silk blend. It is from Copperpot on Etsy. This one is so smooth & shiny!

And this one is Never, Never Land, 150 yards of a chunky weight merino with yellow & green firestar, also from Copperpot. It is so sparkly and simply beautiful. I still need to set the twist, but I am on the search for a good project to showcase this sparkly goodness. 🙂

I have so much fiber to spin right now, some newer ones I dyed up, a ton of superwash from the Sheep Shed and a few more from Copperpots.

Way too many projects. I also just casted on my Ms. Marigold, it is going quickly so far and I love the color I chose. I am using Debbie Bliss Merino DK in Periwinkle and it is so pretty.

Off to get some done now!

New Fibers!

Well I just dyed my first fibers using the acid dye kit from www.helloyarn.com. They turned out so much nicer than when using Wilton’s I think.

This one is 2 oz of Merino, called American Beauty

This one is 2 oz of South African Fine wool, called Chaos Theory

And this one is 4oz of mill ends (from The Sheep Shed Studio), called Grapevine

Now I just have to go and spin them up. I finally got the correct part (almost 4 weeks later) from Paradise Fibers for my wheel, so now I can ply easier. I need some spinning time badly.

I will be posting photos from my awesome week with my little niece and SIL & BIL soon, it was so much fun!!

Well here it is, my first issue of the STR club and it is better than I ever expected!! The colorway is Monsoon in mediumweight merino and it is gorgeous, all greeny with brown and shade of light to dark steel grey with a purple tinge to it. The pattern is awesome!!!!!! It is called “Inside Out” and is a reversible toe-up pattern with cables. I can’t wait to start on it. Suprisingly it seems simple. Only problem is, I don’t have size 0 needles!!!! I will hopefully remedy that tomorrow or with a quick order to KnitPicks. Good excuse to buy my KnitPicks Options anyway! 😉

There is also the club binder, dyer’s notes and FootNotes, which give you facts about your feet! I have an Egypian foot, who knew??? My ball band saying is “Sure Footed”, which is funny because I don’t feel that way at all. Maybe these socks will make my footing more secure! Also included is a cute mini-emergency skein keychain, a bumper sticker that is NSK (notorious sock knitters) and a button. All in all I am very happy I joined this year. It will be a lot of fun!

Today wasn’t a very good day though, I totally lost my temper over the littlest thing and cried my eyes out in the car. Freaked Brian out of course. He is such a good husband and I can be such a bitch sometimes. I don’t know if it is my hormones (I am ovulating tonight or tomorrow) or just stress………….or maybe I need to up my meds, who knows. I hate it when I am like this and feel so stupid. I am going to try to get to bed early and then get up and get myself going early and hopefully get an appointment for a haircut and move my nail appointment up. That always makes me feel better.

This spinning thing has been going well for me so far. I am completely self taught and have made some pretty decent yarns for only having my wheel for a week or so. But I want to get my yarns thinner and even and I just can’t seem to do it. I keep hoping something will “click” but it hasn’t yet. So I am going to just walk away for a bit, watch my spinning video again and maybe just dye up some roving. I ordered a dye kit from www.helloyarn.com so I can move past the whole Wilton’s dyes, it should be here soon. I also finally caved and joined Spunky’s fiber club, can’t wait to get that (goes out on the 20th).

I finally made it to the heel on my STR sock, boy that part is going much faster than the 2×2 ribbing. Thank goodness. My first STR kit isn’t here yet and I am trying to stay away from the other blogs right now so I don’t get spoiled. That is odd for me, usually I will just look, but I really want the surprise right now.

I also have to start getting things in order for my niece coming. The house is only half baby-proofed and still kind of messy (cleaning is not my thing at all). My hubby keeps saying that we will get a cleaning lady soon, but I don’t see that happening, unless I were to get preggo.

Our 5 year anniversary is coming up quickly (June 22nd) and we are finally starting to plan our trip. We have decided as of now that we are going to go to Couples Sans Souci http://www.couples.com/14cs/index.html It is in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and looks fantastic. We have been to Ocho Rios before and loved the people and the whole island. I am just on the lookout for cheap airfare and hopefully a good upgrade or something. I will pull out all the stops for this trip, we need it! Oooh we need to apply for our passports like today too. Ugh!

Off to the many things that need doing………….hopefully will find some time to have fun too.

Two new yarns today!

Here are my latest spun yarns. These were made from some awesome rovings from Copperpot on Etsy. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=110802

This one is Chasing Rainbows, it is 85 yards of merino, spun thick & thin. I have 2 more ounces, so I will probably spin the rest up to match.

And this one is Sea Dreams, 130 yards of merino, semi thick & thin. I have 1 more ounce that I am going to spin super thin and ply with another yarn.

I also have one more roving from her that she calls Never, Never Land…..it is stunning, blue, white & yellow with tons of green firestar. I am off to start on that. And will be buying lots more from her. Check out her site and make sure to leave me some! 😉
