Hey there Delilah…..

I love that song and better yet, I love that colorway….Delilah that is from the fiber of the month club offered by the one and only Carrie of Funky Carolina.  It is scrumptious.

Right now I am spinning up the awesome batts from Traveling Rhino’s batt of the month club for last month, they are very Halloween-y and fun to play with.  It will probably be the last spinning I do on my Lendrum as my Rose will be here on Monday, we will see though.

I need to get offline before I buy anything else, I really didn’t need that laceweight yarn that I just bought from Carrie, but it was too gorgeous to pass up.  LOL!  Link to the pattern I will probably use:  Flower Petal Shawl  Link to the gorgeous yarn:  Pool Laceweight

First handspun FO!

Well here is my first handspun, knitted FO.  It is just a simple garter stitch scarf, but I made it and it is all mine.  LOL!

Sea Treasure scarf—made from 100 yards, 3oz of alpaca, merino, silk and glitz blend with recycled sari silk .  Roving was from Loop on Etsy, spun by me on my Lendrum ST.

It isn’t the longest scarf in the world, but it is more of an accent piece and will be great once the temps drop, oh in December or January sometime.  😉

My wheel will be here Monday, so I am just waiting, not so patiently, talk about quick shipping!  Woot!

A brand new Majacraft Rose spinning wheel is on its way to me.  My husband finally told me to just go ahead and purchase it, since it will work for everything I need, so I did.  Along with the plying kit and 2 extra bobbins.  I am so beyond excited.  I still haven’t sold my Lendrum ST, but will start to take offers on her, so please email me if interested @ mandalinn@gmail.com .  I cannot wait for my new wheel, hopefully she will work like I am hoping, I have heard nothing but good things.

I have 2 new yarns to share today, including my first “art yarn”.

First up; Sea Goddess 192 yards, worsted to bulky weight, 3oz.  Fiber is Falklands Wool,Fine Merino Top, Wool/Mohair,Purple and Green Sparkle fibers and Glitz from TerraBellaSpun www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=110528 , spun by me on my Lendrum ST.  This one will probably be up in my Etsy shop shortly, I do love it to death, but have so many worsted weight yarns right now.

Next up is my first art yarn, Girl Gothic, the fiber is from HollyEQQ’s Batty Babes Club (wool, mohair, angelina, romney, BFL and silk noils) with novelties added in from my scrapbooking stash.  It is 100 yards of worsted to super bulky yarn.  Tons of sparkle on this one and super soft!

I learned a lot doing this yarn and will do much better the next time around, although I am happy with it and it will soon be a scarf for me.  🙂

I am back!

It was a great trip, a little warm (near 90 some days), but we had fun.

My little niece has grown so much and we got to see her get her first haircut (with a few tears) and take her to the zoo and best of all just play.  She is so clever and just learning new stuff daily.

The wedding was held in beautiful Long Grove, IL and was gorgeous.  My cousin was simply stunning and her new husband is a joy.  It was so nice hanging out with my cousins and such.  Good food, friends and family; what more can you ask for?

Laura and Tom

My husband and I.

Now it is time to get ready for the next round of traveling/guests.  My two aunts, cousin and her son come October 20th and then we are all going to Disney World on the 26-30th.  My cousin’s husband will be meeting us there.  They then fly home on the 31st.  So it is another busy month, but should be a blast.  Taua is only 6 and this is his first time and we are taking him to the Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party while we are there.  🙂

Well I need to get back to doing laundry and hopefully spinning and dyeing.  I hope to have an update to my shop shortly.  Please feel free to let me know if you have any color requests or fiber requests.  🙂

So of course I had to try it out.  What kind of Cake are you?

You Are a Chocolate Cake

Fun, comforting, and friendly.
You are a true classic, and while you’re not super cutting edge, you’re high quality.
People love your company – and have even been known to get addicted to you.

Well I have a swap package to work on for the Hello Kitty & Friends swap on Craftster, I need to get it out soon, before I leave.

A few photos of my babies & view…

I haven’t really shared much about my family life, so I thought I would share a few photos today with you all.

First off my babies, Nala and Sasha, who are both miniature pinschers, althought many don’t believe us, since Nala (black & tan) is huge and Sasha (red) is small and stocky.  Here they are!

 View from our master bedroom

The view from our master bedroom balcony, of the Intercoastal waterway and a tiny bit of the Gulf if you squint.  😉  We are lucky and live right on the water and share a 6 slip dock with our 5 neighbors, it is an ideal setup and our dream home.

More to come later, off to play with my new Traveling Rhinos batt club kit for September, it is FANTASTIC!

Here is my latest handspun, called Sherbet. Roving was from Stony Creek on Etsy. I finally got down to a sock weight yarn and pretty consistant. It is 270 yards of 2ply, 4oz of Fresian & Shetland wool.
I am super happy as to how it came out, while not the softest wool, it is strong and has a great sheen to it. Now to find a project for it. 🙂
As soon as my hip has recovered I am on to some awesome superwash merino I have waiting for me.

Also, I am considering moving my blog over to WordPress, I will let everyone know if I do it for good. I like Blogger, but WordPress seems to offer a bit more of what I am looking for.
